It is generally accepted that a welded structure is more rigid, structurally stable and sonically superior to a bolted or modular wooden rack.
Stacking equipment on top of each other is not recommended, the reasons being electromagnetic interference and a lack of good air flow for cooling - especially amplifiers. It is worth putting each component on its own shelf with a gap between them.
